1 From the Departments of Radiology and Surgery, The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, New York, New York
A 55 year old woman with combined congenital biscuspid valvular pulmonic and calcific aortic stenosis was successfully treated with open-heart surgery and cardiac arrest techniques, pulmonary valvulotomy, and resection of calcific aortic stenosis with replacement by a McGovern-Cromie sutureless valve prosthesis. The diagnosis was suspected following classic physical findings of pulmonic and aortic stenosis. The conventional roentgenograms, angiocardiograms, and hemodynamic data following catheterization of both sides of the heart confirmed the diagnosis and accurately visualized the findings. These were valuable in the planning of the operative treatment. The patient is apparently only the third, out of II cases of combined congenital pulmonic and aortic stenosis, reported in the literature who had repair of the lesions.
