ANEURYSMAL BONE CYST OF THE RIB

A REPORT OF TWO UNUSUAL CASES

ARVIN E. ROBINSON M.D.1, RAYMOND L. THOMAS M.D.1, and DONALD M. MONSON M.D.2

1 Resident in Radiology, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina
2 Assistant Clinical Professor in Radiology, Duke University Medical Center, and Radiologist, Watts Hospital, Durham, North Caroiina

Two cases of aneurysmal bone cyst of the rib are presented to demonstrate the variable appearance of this reasonably uncommon lesion. Because of the difficulty in differentiating roentgenographically this benign tumor from a malignant rib lesion, it would be safer to recommend excisional biopsy whenever possible.
