TECHNIQUE OF CEREBRAL ANGIOGRAPHY IN CHILDREN

R. S. BOULOS M.D.1, JOHN GILROY M.D., F.R.C.P.(C)1, and JOHN STIRLING MEYER M.D.1

1 From the Departments of Neurology, Wayne State University, Harper and Detroit General Hospitals and the Wayne Center for Cerebral Vascular Research

The technique of percutaneous retrograde brachial injection using Rochester needles and an automatic pressure injector is described. The evolution of the methods used for cerebral angiography in children has been reviewed. The advantages of the technique recommended here are that it is simple and safe. It also allows total visualization of the extracerebral and intracerebral circulation which has particular advantages when performing cerebral angiography in children.
