ZINC 69m CHLORIDE, A NEW LIVER SCANNING AGENT

GERALD S. JOHNSTON M.D.1, HOMER B. HUPF M.S.2, ELIZABETH GOTSHALL B.S.1, and RALPH W. KYLE 1

1 Radioisotope Section, Waiter Reed General Hospital, Washington, D.C.
2 Isotopes Development Center, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tennessee

Following intravenous injection of zinc 69m chloride, much of the zinc 69m was prompty removed by and concentrated in the liver. Techinically good liver scans were obtained using this radioactive agent. The half life and photon energy of zinc 691 make it a desirable isotope for clinical work.
