1. The embryogenesis and anatomy of the sphenoidal fissure and adjacent structures are reviewed.
2. A discussion of the normal variations and congenital anomalies involving the fissure is presented.
3. Various pathologic processes producing dilatation and constriction of the fissure and their roentgen differential diagnosis are discussed in detail.
