THEODORE E. KEATS M.D.1

1 From the Department of Radiology, University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville, Virginia

A large accessory ossicle located below and articulating with the inferior aspect of the anterior arch of the atlas is described. This has been termed "the inferior accessory ossicle of the anterior arch of the atlas." Its importance lies in its recognition as only an anatomic variant.
