When weakly filtered or unfiltered radiation of sufficient intensity strikes the target of an image intensifier, there is secondary overloading of the television camera. The image seen on the picture tube becomes bleacheda phenomenon familiarly termed "white out."
The explanation for this phenomenon is outlined and a simple practical solution of the problem is offered.
