Clinical and expenimental observations with dionosil aqueous and hytrast bronchography reveal a pulmonary inflammatory reaction to both media. Much of this reaction appears to be related to their common suspending agent, carboxymethyl-cellulose, but differences exist which are probably related to the radiopaque portions of the media. Adequate bronchograms can be obtained with either material, but the clinical reaction appears to be less frequent and less severe with dionosil aqueous.
