1. From the previous experience with laminagraphy of the skull base, it became evident that pathology of the hypoglossal canal is not as rare as the medical literature would indicate.
2. A technique is described for the roentgenographic examination of the canal.
3. Detailed anatomy of the normal canal and its normal variations are described.
